This book was born at a conference on boarding schools at Sherman Indian High School in late 2002. The contributors analyze and illustrate the different emotions and experiences of boarding school students, primarily between 1870 and 1940. The introduction provides a commendable overview of boarding school history. A synthesis of the chapters that follow would have been useful. |
