This book pays tribute to Félix D. Almaráz, Jr. for his leadership in and contributions to Tejano history. A collection of readings by leading Tejano scholars, it is also intended "to add to the research findings" of Texas history and "to fill the needs of the college classroom" on Tejano history. (p. vii) Maintaining a surprisingly cohesive theme, the individual essays represent several objectives of the new field of Tejano history. They illustrate the historian's search for new information, the courage to revise traditional discourse, and the disciplined documentation of facts. |
