For the past decade, on any daybreak from late spring through autumn, every auto turnout in Yellowstone's Lamar Valley has been packed with wolfers. In contrast to the majority of the wolf pursuits described in this book, these modern wolfers come to observe and praise Canis lupus, not shoot, poison, dismember, or otherwise torture the creatures. How we got from there to here obviously requires explanation. |
