The Southern Great Plains is a forgotten or at least overlooked region. It brings to mind the mental images of wheat and cotton fields, ranging cattle, and scattered oil wells. The Southern Great Plains also is a region of political conservatism linked to the Republican Party, religious pietism, and public faith in capitalism. Most importantly the Southern Great Plains is undergoing great social, economic, and political change. |
