This lively narrative by Thomas Noel and graduate student Cathleen Norman tells the story of a partnership that shaped development and settlement in the Pikes Peak region. It illustrates the colonial relationship between eastern capital and western industry, and argues that the cooperation between the Penrose and Tutt families created an empire that dominated the growth of the region for more than a century. . . .
