With this book and its companion volume, The First Global War: Britain, France, and the Fate of North America, 1756–1775, Nester explores the background, conduct, and consequences of the French and Indian, or Seven Years, War. A third volume, "Haughty Conquerors": Amherst and the Great Indian Uprising of 1763, (also published this year by Praeger), describes the war's immediate consequences on the American frontier, the conflict traditionally known as Pontiac's Rebellion. . . .
