Aviator P.G.B. (Bud) Morriss collected images of the early years of aviation in the United States, France, Mexico, Canada, Australia and Great Britain. The collection emphasizes the accomplishments and personalities of pre–World War I civilian aviation, with members of the Early Birds of Aviation and the Ninety-Nines well represented. The collection includes 898 black-and-white photographic prints, 197 lantern slides, approximately 200 nitrate negatives, and a small quantity of related papers.

More than half of the 86 black-and-white images document Charles Lindbergh's 1927 visit to Portland, Oregon. The remainder of the collection consists of images related to Lindbergh's later life as a political and conservation activist and airplane pioneer. Includes amateur snapshots and newspaper photographs.

| In the course of a career in journalism and public relations, Tom Humphrey worked for several newspapers, including the Oregon Journal; monitored war production for the President's Committee for Congested Production Areas during World War II; and worked for the Aircraft Industries Association of America. The larger of these two series of photographs is aviation-related, emphasizing the airplanes of World War II. The other series is related to the shipyards of the Vancouver–Portland area during World War II. |
