Pacific Northwest History Conference


The 57th annual Pacific Northwest History conference will be held in conjunction with the conferences of the Northwest Archivists, Inc., and the Northwest Oral History Association May 6–8, 2004, at the Red Lion Inn, Olympia, Washington. The theme of the meeting is "Collaborations: Recording, Researching, and Writing Pacific Northwest History." Presenting the Past Lecture Series at OHS


Sponsored by the Oregon Historical Society and Friends of History at Portland State University, "Presenting the Past" is a series of talks that present historical research in progress. Monthly presentations are held on Saturday mornings at 11:00 a.m. at the Oregon Historical Society, 1200 S.W. Park Avenue, Portland. All talks are free and open to the public and include questions and discussion afterward. Upcoming events include Richard H. Engeman, "The Mystery of the Jefferson Medal: A Lewis and Clark Enigma" (January 10), and Cain Allen, "Reshaping the Land: Landscape and Colonialism in the Columbia River Gorge" (February 14).
