Ella Clark was a U.S. Forest Service lookout in the early 1950s when she first heard the Klickitat myth about a volcanic struggle between Mount Adams and Mount Hood for the love of Sleeping Beauty Mountain. Over one hundred such stories fill this volume, originally published in 1953, which includes sections on "Legends of the Lakes," "Myths of the Mountains," and "Myths of Creation, the Sky, and Storms." |
