He is also a frequent commentator on policy matters in the media.

Darren Ferry recently completed his PhD in History at McMaster University. His dissertation examined the multifaceted roles of central Canadian voluntary associations in the 19th century.

Alvin Finkel is Professor of History, Athabasca University, and English-language book review editor for Labour/Le Travail. His latest book is entitled History of Canadian Social Policy, forthcoming from Wilfrid Laurier University Press.

Catherine Gidney currently holds a Hannah postdoctoral fellowship in the history of medicine at the University of Waterloo. She is the author of the forthcoming book, A Long Eclipse: The Liberal Protestant Establishment and the Canadian University, 1920–70, McGill-Queen's University Press, 2005.

John-Henry Harter has taught Canadian History at Douglas College and Labour Studies at Simon Fraser University. He has been active in both the labour and environmental movements, and is currently a PhD candidate at SFU.

| Mark Thomas is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at York University. His doctoral research examined the regulation of employment standards through the Ontario Employment Standards Act. His current research examines the political economy of working time in contemporary labour markets. |
