Kevin C. Armitage is currently visiting assistant professor at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. He is the author of a book about conservation and the nature study movement, Knowing Nature: Nature Study, Conservation and American Culture, 1873–1923, forthcoming from the University Press of Kansas.

 
Jack S. Blocker, Jr., professor of history at Huron College, University of Western Ontario, has authored or edited six books on alcohol and temperance history. His book A Little More Freedom: African Americans Enter the Urban Midwest, 1860–1930 will be published by Ohio State University Press in 2007. He is currently vice-president/president-elect of the Society for Historians of the Gilded Age and Progressive Era.
