Ballard Campbell is Professor of History at Northeastern University
in Boston. He specializes in the political and economic history of
the United States and in comparative history. Among his many publications,
he is co-editor of the three-volume American Presidential Campaigns
and Elections (2003) and author of The Growth of American Government
(1995). Campbell was president of SHGAPE, 2002-2004..
Kyle E. Ciani is an assistant professor of history at Illinois
State University, specializing in the histories of women and gender.
Her current research analyzes social welfare concerns in San Diego,
where she focuses on how transborder culture affected civic actions
and workers' choices.
Gerald R. Gems, Professor of Health and Physical Education
at North Central College, is president of the North American Society
for Sport History. The author of Windy City Wars: Labor, Leisure
and Sport in the Making of Chicago (1997), Gems is currently working
on a sport history textbook and a forthcoming book on sport and American
imperialism
