EUGENE H. BERWANGER, Professor of History at Colorado State University, Fort Collins, earned his Ph.D. at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. He is the author of The Frontier Against Slavery: Western Anti-Negro Prejudice and the Slavery Extension Controversy (1967) and The West and Reconstruction (1981). He coauthored The Stakes of Power, 1845–1877 (1981) with Roy F. Nichols. He left in December for a senior Fullbright lectureship at the University of Genoa, Italy.

HAROLD M. HYMAN is the William Hobby Professor of American History at Rice University. His most recent book is Equal Justice Under Law, coauthored with William M. Wiecek (1982). He is also coauthor of Stanton: The Life and Times of Lincoln's Secretary of War (1962) with Benjamin Platt Thomas, and edited The Radical Republications and Reconstruction, 1861–1870 (1967).

MARK E. NEELY, JR. is Director of the Louis A. Warren Lincoln Library and Museum and a member of the board of directors of the Abraham Lincoln Association. His new book, due out in February of 1984, is The Lincoln Image: Abraham Lincoln and the Popular Print, coauthored with G. S. Boritt and Harold Holzer. He is also author of The Abraham Lincoln Encyclopedia (1982).

FRANK J. WILLIAMS is an attorney in Providence, Rhode Island. He is a member of the board of directors and program chairman of the Abraham Lincoln Association, and he has served as president of the Lincoln Group of Boston since 1976. He chairs the Lincoln Advisory Committee of Brown University and authors a "Lincolniana" article for each February issue of Hobbies magazine.
