DON E. FEHRENBACHER, professor of history and American studies at Stanford University, is the author of Prelude to Greatness: Lincoln in the 1850s (1962) and The Dred Scott Case: Its Significance in American Law and Politics (1978). He earned his doctorate at the University of Chicago in 1951 and was the winner of the 1979 Pulitzer Prize in History.
| 1 | THOMAS R. TURNER, professor of history at Bridgewater State College, Bridgewater, Massachusetts, earned his Ph.D. from Boston University. He has lectured and written extensively about the Lincoln assassination, most recently in Beware the People Weeping: Public Opinion and the Assassination of Abraham Lincoln (Louisiana State University Press).
