PAUL M. ANGLE (1900–1975) served as executive secretary of the Abraham Lincoln Association from 1925 to 1932, when he became secretary of the Illinois State Historical Society. In 1945 he became director of the Chicago Historical Society. Angle wrote and edited extensively on the topics of Abraham Lincoln and Illinois history. His publications include Mary Lincoln: Wife and Widow (with Carl Sandburg, 1932) and Bloody Williamson (1952).
| 1 | BENJAMIN P. THOMAS (1902–1956), executive secretary of the Abraham Lincoln Association from 1932 to 1936, authored Portrait for Posterity: Backstage with the Lincoln Biographers (1947) and Abraham Lincoln: A Biography (1952). In addition to earning a Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University, Thomas was successful in both business and farming.
| 2 | HAROLD K. SAGE, an avid student of Abrham Lincoln for many years, donated his collection of books about Lincoln to the library at Illinois State University. Sage enjoyed careers as a Mississippi cotton planter and a Normal, Illinois businessman. He is author of The Beginnings of Normal, Illinois (1971).
