Matthew Pinsker is a Brasenose Charitable Foundation Scholar at Oxford University, where he is reading for a doctor of philosophy degree in modern history under the supervision of Lawrence Goldman and Daniel Walker Howe. He is working on a dissertation entitled "The Race of Ambition: Abraham Lincoln and the Republican Vocation, 1849–1861." Pinsker graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University in 1990. During his senior year, he was one of David Herbert Donald's research assistants for a forthcoming Lincoln biography.

Michael Vorenberg is a doctoral candidate in the Department of History at Harvard University. He has worked as a research assistant on David Herbert Donald's forthcoming biography of Abraham Lincoln. Currently, he is preparing a dissertation on "The Civil War Politics of Emancipation and the Thirteenth Amendment," directed by William E. Gienapp.

| Frank J. Williams is president of the Abraham Lincoln Association, as well as past president of the Lincoln Group of Boston. He lectures widely, most recently at the Lincoln Conference, Shreveport, Louisiana. As principal advisor for the Lincoln and the American Political Tradition Symposium at Brown University, he won a special Bardoness Award. He contributed a chapter on the Abraham Lincoln Association to the collaborated work Lincoln on Democracy (1990). He continues to write a two-volume Lincoln bibliography and expand his private Lincoln book and manuscript collection. |
