Book Review
| Slavery and the American South. Ed. by Winthrop D. Jordan. (Jackson: University Press of Mississippi, 2003. xx, 224 pp. $45.00, ISBN 1-57806-581-X.)

| This book is a collection of six original essays by various authors, each with an accompanying commentary and all prefaced by an introductory essay. The coverage of slavery as a topic is not comprehensive (there is nothing specifically on the slave trade, religion, or rebellions, for instance), but the value of this volume to serious students of slavery lies in its exploration of some novel approaches to subjects that will already be familiar to many. |
