In a recent survey of scholarship on women during the American Civil War, Drew Faust cited at least a dozen unpublished dissertations and a long list of important essays and monographs that have appeared in the last decade or so. It is hard to imagine that there is a more exciting field in either American women's history or Civil Warera studies. Judith Ann Giesberg's Civil War Sisterhood is a significant addition to this literature. |
