A part of the American Experience series hosted by David McCullough, Nixon's China Game takes viewers through the world of secrecy and deception that culminated in President Richard M. Nixon's stunning visit to the People's Republic of China in February 1972. A collage of Chinese film and home movies made by an aide to National Security Adviser Henry Kissinger provides glimpses into the United StatesChinese secret diplomacy. Certain anecdotes are given too much elaboration, but all in all, Nixon's China Game effectively reconstructs both the suspense and the human moments of the furtive contacts. |
