What Ruthe Winegarten did for the history of black Texas women in her Black Texas Women: 150 Years of Trial and Triumph (Austin, 1995), Teresa Palomo Acosta and Ruthe Winegarten do for Tejana women in Las Tejanas. An incredible knowledge of secondary and primary documents informs this broad survey of Tejana women from colonial times to today.	. . .
