Gunther Peck's Reinventing Free Labor has affected the study of western labor history even before it appeared as a book. As a series of articles in such journals as the Journal of American History and the Western Historical Quarterly, as a doctoral dissertation, and more, as a book, Peck's work has challenged some preconceived notions regarding immigrant workers and has received honors from the Western Historical Association, and Yale University, and now has earned the prestigious Philip Taft Award for the best work of labor history. |
