Introduction | |
| Plainly, the sixties have arrived in the realm of public memory. This "Exhibition Reviews" section features several exhibitions, from institutions large and small, that address the tumultuous events and tangled legacies of that era. The sampling here suggests as well that in public history work, oral history has arrived as a driving force in understanding the period. In this assortment of exhibitions at least, the sixties are accessed through the lives of individuals—famous and ordinary—who lived through the era and are still trying to make sense of it today. All of the exhibitions deploy voices and personal memories. |
