| Sisters of '77 tells the story of the National Women's Conference (NWC) held at Houston, Texas, in November 1977. Using archival film footage, still photos, and recent interviews with conferees, the documentary assesses the historical meaning of this federally funded conference intended to define a legislative agenda for advancing women's rights in the United States. The film reveals the assumptions and conflicts within second-wave feminism in the late 1970s. The piece is well organized and illuminating, a good choice for the classroom. |
