| John Barnard has written a World War II memorial of a book about the great generation of labor leaders that arose from the American automobile industry. During the struggle to win the class wars and establish unions and for decades thereafter, most Americans apprehended the achievements of the United Auto Workers (UAW). Walter Reuther placed the union at the head of a liberal democratic alliance that improved the lives of millions of Americans by challenging the United States to fulfill its best intentions. This book is an appreciation for the benefit of younger generations for whom labor leadership is largely unknown and unimaginable. |
