I picked up Brooks Blevins's analysis of the Arkansas Ozarks, Hill Folks, with great interest but did not fully appreciate just what a monumental study it would prove to be. With little prior systematic historical scholarship on the Arkansas Ozarks to build upon, Blevins kicks off almost single-handedly what one might hope would become an interdisciplinary Ozark studies initiative. . . .
