Awards
The Pelzer Award Committee invites candidates for graduate degrees to submit essays for the Louis Pelzer Award competition. Essays may deal with any period or topic in the history of the United States. The winning essay will be published in the Journal of American History. In addition, the organization presents $500, a certificate, and a medal to the winner.

The Organization of American Historians annually awards the David Thelen Prize for the best article on American history that has been published in a language other than English. The winning article will be published in translation in the Journal of American History. The deadline for entries published during any calendar year is May 1 of the following year.
Please submit five copies of the entry, along with a one- or two-page essay in Eng-lish explaining why the article is a significant and original contribution to our understanding of American history, to Thelen Prize Chair, Journal of American History, 1215 East Atwater Ave., Bloomington, Indiana 47401-3703, USA.
Correction
The San Francisco History Center, San Francisco Public Library provided and granted permission to reproduce and publish the image "And Still They Come!," which appears on page 64 of the June 2002 JAH. The courtesy line was inadvertently omitted.
