In her Columbia Guide to American Indians of the Great Plains, Loretta Fowler has created a succinct, yet comprehensive, guide to Plains Indian history and culture. In only 283 pages she has brought together an amazing amount of information about the history and culture of Plains peoples. The book, divided into five parts, begins with a survey of Plains Indian history and culture. This survey is followed by a listing of important people, places, and events in Plains Indian history and culture. A chronology covering the major events of Plains Indian life from 12,000 BP to 1990 makes up part three, and part four contains a comprehensive guide to Plains Indian resources. |
