September 3, 1906 Dear Mr. Scott: The school question is warmer now than ever, Du Bois is turning heaven and earth to be appointed assistant superintendent. I suppose you have seen some of the Washington papers, if so, you have seen where Montgomery'si position is very precarious at present; the friends of Du Bois are trying to oust him and place Du Bois in his place.
