The page presentation framework of the Booker T. Washington papers is designed to provide researchers worldwide with searchable access to the thousands of pages comprising the fourteen volumes, most of which are out of print. Adapted from the National Academy Press's Open Book framework, this framework allows searching down to the page level, provides sorting of search results chronologically, enables easy navigation across multiple volumes, and allows page-by-page local printing (via PDF) of every page.

The BOOKER T. WASHINGTON Papers From Samuel Edwarc! Courtney Boston July lath 1907 My dear Mr. Washington: Duckery promised to let me see those letters last Sunday but failed to keep his agreement. I have hired our friend Woottont to get them by any means. It will take a little time but feels quite certain he can get them long enough to make a copy. Very truly yours, S. E. Courtney ALS Con. 345 BTW Papers DLC. ~ Paul L. Wootton, a pressman residing in Cambridge according to the Go city directory. A supporter of BTW in the Boston area, where the Tuskegean had many critics, Wootton occasionally did favors for BTW. (See Fox, Guardian of Boston, 97.) To William Wallace Haralson Huntington, L.I., July 22, 1907 My dear Sir: While I have not as yet had an opportunity of seeing your official report I have seen enough of it to convince me that you have made a fair, thorough and just report and I want to let you know how very much I feel obligated to you in the matter. In saying this I know full well had you found anything wrong you would have been just as quick to say so as you were to say that everything was all right, as you meant to do your full duty in the matter regarc3less of who was pleased or displeased. I shall hope to write you about the other matter very soon. Very truly yours, tBooker T. Washington] TLc Con. 350 BTW Papers DLC. ~ Haralson's report, done for Governor Comer of Alabama, was reprinted in the Tuskegee Student, Aug. 3, 1907, I. It was a glowing account of the school's financial operation. ''The business organization of the Tuskegee Normal and Industrial Institute, looking at its purely business side, is a model of perfection,'' Haralson wrote. The school's physical appearance, the student body, and the curriculum also received praise. 302
