The page presentation framework of the Booker T. Washington papers is designed to provide researchers worldwide with searchable access to the thousands of pages comprising the fourteen volumes, most of which are out of print. Adapted from the National Academy Press's Open Book framework, this framework allows searching down to the page level, provides sorting of search results chronologically, enables easy navigation across multiple volumes, and allows page-by-page local printing (via PDF) of every page.

JULY 1 907 Plymouth 8:50 A Ar. Marsh. Center 9:30 a m. If practicable, come & see us. ALS Con. 3 BTW Papers DLC. To Arthur Isaiah Vorys ~ 1 Tuskegee Institute, Alabama July 8, 1907 (Personal and Confidential) My dear Mr. Vorys: I have your favor of July fist. I happened to be in New York a few days ago and Mr. Anderson very kindly spoke to me of your letter to him bearing upon a Washington man. What Mr. Anderson says of that man voices my own opinion thoroughly. He is the very last man to be touched. I strongly advise that for the present you will not excite any of the colored people by giving any special attention to individual men or individual newspapers except in a very cautious way. The minute one hears that you are paying attention in certain directions, you will have the whole body of the colored politicians down upon you for something and there will be probably a rough and tumble scramble. You can consult freely and safely at all times with men like Mr. Chas. W. Anderson and a few others who have no selfish aim to . gratify. I shall be returning to Huntington, N.Y. again soon and if you are likely to be in that vicinity I shall be glad to see you. I agree with you thoroughly concerning the danger that there is to the Negro race in this Brownsville agitation and am doing some quiet and effective work with colored newspapers in changing that tendency. I will from time to time let you know of the results of this work. Very truly, Booker T. Washington TLS Con. 362 BTW Papers DLC. iArthur Isaiah N7orys (~8~933), an Ohio lawyer and insurance executive, was a member of the Republican National Committee from 1908 to 19~2 and managed Taft's presidential campaign in Ohio. 301
