The page presentation framework of the Booker T. Washington papers is designed to provide researchers worldwide with searchable access to the thousands of pages comprising the fourteen volumes, most of which are out of print. Adapted from the National Academy Press's Open Book framework, this framework allows searching down to the page level, provides sorting of search results chronologically, enables easy navigation across multiple volumes, and allows page-by-page local printing (via PDF) of every page.

March I, ~go: My dear Dr. Washington: The recent action taken at Tuskegee in regard to Rev. Edgar I. Penney has raised some questions which it seems desirable to bring to your attention. As Mr. Penney is not only a graduate but also a trustee of Atlanta University, his reputation and future usefulness cannot fail to be matters of creep concern to our Board as well as to all friends of our Institution. We realize that all the facts in the case may not be before us, and if we have been misinformed we shall be grateful for any correction. 225
