The page presentation framework of the Booker T. Washington papers is designed to provide researchers worldwide with searchable access to the thousands of pages comprising the fourteen volumes, most of which are out of print. Adapted from the National Academy Press's Open Book framework, this framework allows searching down to the page level, provides sorting of search results chronologically, enables easy navigation across multiple volumes, and allows page-by-page local printing (via PDF) of every page.

JANUARY l 9oO that he does not take up in this little book....'' He was critical, however, of the ''literary crudities'' and some organizational problems that blemished the book. (Cook Buyer, 20 [Mar. Cool, ~44-45.) James B. Washington to the Tuskegee Institute Finance Committee Tuskegee, Ala., Jany., sth 'oo To Finance Committee: Last May I was informed that my salary was to be raised $~.oo, but I find it hasn't been done, according to notification. For ~ or 6 years I have been allowed $4~. per month and an additional $~.oo was given me for services in the band, making $ . for services. I am now informed that you intended me to have A. more. If, after working 6 years my services are not worth more than a A. raise, I prefer it to remain as it was at first. I should not for a moment, ask for such a raise, after such long service for low wages. I dont make this assertion because I dont need the dollar, but because I feel that I either deserve more of a raise than that or nothing. Hoping if that is the case you will please rectify it as soon as possible. I understand my salary was to be So. and the Woo was to stand as it has always done. I received the increase in my salary beginning June ~ and throughout the Summer, when there was no band and am confident that you didn't mean to cut off the am't received in the band. The $~.oo raise should not interfere with what ~ have already been receiving. Resp. J. B. Washington ALS Con. 186 BTW Papers DLC.
