From Samuel McCune Lindsay Philadelphia, Nov. 28th 1896 Dear Sir: Enclosed please find the prooŁ-sheets of the schedules which have been adopted for the Investigation into the Condition of the Negroes in Ward Seven of the City of Philadelphia. We desire to make this investigation as thorough as possible and to have the results in such shape as to be comparable with similar work undertaken in other cities. The work is being done by Mr. W. E. B. Du Bois, Ph.D. (Harvard) and Miss Isabel Eaton, B.L. (Smith), under the direction of this department of the University which will print all results worthy of publication. Will you kindly examine the enclosed proofs and return them at once with any corrections or suggestions which in your judgment will add to the value of the investigation? The proofs will be held until December end, and corrections arriving later than that date, will be unavailable. A complete set of the final schedules will be sent to you.
