The page presentation framework of the Booker T. Washington papers is designed to provide researchers worldwide with searchable access to the thousands of pages comprising the fourteen volumes, most of which are out of print. Adapted from the National Academy Press's Open Book framework, this framework allows searching down to the page level, provides sorting of search results chronologically, enables easy navigation across multiple volumes, and allows page-by-page local printing (via PDF) of every page.

SEPTEMBER · ~ 890 to have the church dividecl by an agitation of these matters and therefore ~ feel that the less said the better now and perhaps when ~ am gone these things will all be understood. I will write you as soon as ~ hear from New York. ~ trust the school opened well and that every thing looks promising. With kind regards to ah. Your bro. R. C. Bedford ALS Con. 94 BTW Papers DLC. ~ Mitchell Dorsette Garner entered Tuskegee in ~ 890 and graduated in ~ 896. He taught carpentry in the Kowaliga, Ala., Industrial School and in 1898 became a member of the Tuskegee faculty in carpentry. He was still a member of the faculty at BTW's death. Joseph Samuel Jackson, born in Mansfield, La., in 186~, received a B.D. degree from Talladega College in 1889 and a B.D. degree from Oberlin in 1890. He was probably Bedford's successor, for the 189~-93 catalog of Talladega reported him as a pastor in Montgomery. Later he served churches in Cleveland, Steubenville, Columbus, and Cincinnati, Ohio. He received a D.D. degree from Wilberforce University in ~ 9 ~ 5. From Dora S. King Hanover Mass. Sept. s/go Mr. Washington, Yours of the With containing check for $30.00 came safely to hand. You will perhaps remember that when the children had been here two weeks Mrs. Winslow wished for their board money for that length of time, and I wrote you that the two weeks would be up on the coth of June, as we came here the lath. ~ also stated that after that time she would like the money once in four weeks, and unless I am greatly mistaken ~ stated that the next four weeks would close Thursday July ~4th. I also told you when you were with us, at what date the money was due in July, and that Hanover is now a money order office. I wrote you about it that first time particularly so that there should be no misunderstanding. The third payment was due Thursday August ~ fist and the next one will be due Thursday September lath the same date at which my salary is due. She never takes boarders by the month, but always by the week. ~ think I once told you that ~ pay for my children's board by the week and receive my salary by the month, so' that at the end of three months or thirteen weeks I pay out sixty-five dollars for their board and receive only 79 .
