NOVE M B ER · I 8 9 4 From Mary A. Elliott Columbus Ohio Nov lath 1894 Dear Brother ~ received your letter have just returned from Athens Ohio, and found it waiting for me. I am glad to hear that you are all well. I have been thinking of my dear little boys and all of you, so much of late. We can Still hear from the School through the little papers which gives us great comfort. ~ suppose Baker, and Davidson have grown considerable since I saw them last. They have already grown out of dresse's into pants since that time; ~ know more a bout little Portia's size ~ hope that she is having her health We heard some time back through the little papers that Mrs Washington was not having her health so well. But we also heard that she was convalescent again and was glad to hear it. I oftimes think that it is wonderful, dear brother how that you manage to keep your health and stay up on your feet and do the amount of work that you do with out giving down some time. You must understand the laws of governing physical health and obey them, or perhaps Strong Will Power, has something to do with it, I know not which Thanksgiving and Holidays will soon be here again. How time is flying soon be three years since I was with you all. Kiss all the children and Mrs Washington also for me Aunt Mary Dear Brother, you can never know how much that mother and I appreciate your kindness in sending us the Hernando letter which gave us such a plain understanding as pen picture of the graves ~ can understand a bout them better then ever before, although Dear Olivia had trailed to make evry thing plain to me years ago, she it was that designed the epitaphs for the head Stones did evry thing that was done, dear girl. That is one time that ~ prepared to go to her side to help her but Mother was taken Sudenly Ill. The shock was more than she could stand. Lizzie had ondly been dead a little over three months When Josie died or was killed by the CuKlucks (T dont know how to spell it) and he was mother's baby boy, and our youngest brother he was the prettiest child that mother ever had. Oh ! Booker those were dark days, of sorrow that I wish none may ever have to pass through any thing like them and it was many weeks before mother could realize any thing.
