The page presentation framework of the Booker T. Washington papers is designed to provide researchers worldwide with searchable access to the thousands of pages comprising the fourteen volumes, most of which are out of print. Adapted from the National Academy Press's Open Book framework, this framework allows searching down to the page level, provides sorting of search results chronologically, enables easy navigation across multiple volumes, and allows page-by-page local printing (via PDF) of every page.

DECEMBER · ~ 892 look at Mother and see how she works evry day weaving evry day makes her living independently of her children, so far, in most evry thing. I am so glad to hear that the dear little children have been well and happy since you all began house keeping also that Mrs Washington is getting along so nicely and doing all she can for them, for Davidson cant do very weld without a mama, it Is his nature he is a tender harted little child. They liked their new mama very well I thought and she rather liked them I thought more then she cared to let on dear woman, Maggie you call her; sounds pretty if there is ~ · — any thing In a name. Davidson is a little jealous that is what is the mater with him that he reminds his mama that it is not her papa, all three would feel that way untill they got use to the change, for the privilege of sleeping with papa was at a high premium when I was there. Well I hope dear brother that you are meeting with success in your work and that you may keep your health and reach home in time to spend happy Holidays with the loved ones. I hope that the time will come in the future that I can visit you all again, nothing would give me more joy. If I cant next year I feel that the time will come that I can come. We expect to move soon into our new house it is on the same lot that Mother lives on. we wild finish a nough to move into so we will not have to pay rent as what we are now paying will go in to our home. It is not far from where we live now. In three or four weeks if I keep on improving I can walk as well as ever. I hope. Is it possible that Hiram ~has] written to you. I am glad.
