The page presentation framework of the Booker T. Washington papers is designed to provide researchers worldwide with searchable access to the thousands of pages comprising the fourteen volumes, most of which are out of print. Adapted from the National Academy Press's Open Book framework, this framework allows searching down to the page level, provides sorting of search results chronologically, enables easy navigation across multiple volumes, and allows page-by-page local printing (via PDF) of every page.

NOVEMBER ~ 89£ An Announcement of the Opening of Phelps Hall Bible School ''Tuskegee, Ala., November 1892] A BIBLE SCHOOL IN CONNECTION WITH THE NORMAL AND INDUSTRIAL INSTITUTE AT TUSKEGEE ALABAMA The desire for increased opportunities for those who wish to fit themselves for the ministry or other forms of Christian work in the South, has been long felt. To meet this need, a generous lady in New York has erected at Tuskegee, a large and beautiful three story building, called Phelps Hall, a picture of which is herewith given, containing a chapel, library, reading room, office, four recitation rooms, forty sleeping rooms; to be used as a Bible School. The donor of this building has furnished each room in the most comfortable and convenient manner, making it the most beautiful and desirable building on the School grounds. This new department will open January lath, '93; and those who wish to attend should write at once for a circular giving the course of study, expenses, etc. Students will be given an opportunity to work out a portion of their expense, and a few can work out all their expenses. Those who desire can board in town. The teaching will be wholly undenominational. It is the aim of this new department to help all denominations, and not to antagonize them. This Bible School is not in opposition to any theological work now being done, but is simply a means of helping. The faculty wild be composed of some of the strongest men in the country, Rev. Edgar J. Penney will be in charge of the work and he will be assisted by Mr. I. D. McCall. Right Rev. B. T. Tanner, Rev. C. O. Booths D.D., Rev. R. R.
