The Misses Collins' have sent in their donation for the Water Works and I have acknowledged same. ~ have also written them that ~ would take the $500.00 and lend it to Farmers with the understanding that they are to return it the next fad with interest, interest being at a lower rate than they are accustomed to paying. He says the Ala. Literary at Montgomery have engaged Fred Douglass for Woo. to speak in the Opera House in Montgomery on the night of Commencement. In order to keep this appointment it will be necessary for him to leave the school at 5 o'clock. ~ think we should try to prevent Mr Douglass' going to Montgomery on the same day he speaks here and think it can be done if the matter is put before him In the right way.
