The page presentation framework of the Booker T. Washington papers is designed to provide researchers worldwide with searchable access to the thousands of pages comprising the fourteen volumes, most of which are out of print. Adapted from the National Academy Press's Open Book framework, this framework allows searching down to the page level, provides sorting of search results chronologically, enables easy navigation across multiple volumes, and allows page-by-page local printing (via PDF) of every page.

I sometimes make up my mind that I will not let any talk to me of the child and then I forget. She kinder understands it too and ~ hate it. I wonder Mr. Washington if it is a wise and Christian thing for me to love you feeling as I do? Still I shall be absolutely honest with you and if you feel that you prefer giving me up I should find no fault with you. Dont be angry or annoyed. I lost my key arid had nothing to wear. Miss Peaks sent me over something nice to eat to day. Miss Hawley4 and Browns are still here, mean as ever. I am very much pleased with my class teachers. I think that they are doing good work except your protegee and I expect nothing of her. Miss Lischy is carrying on the Instrumental Mus c and she does it well. The students are now in the Annex dining room and seem quite happy. I do not like the place at all still I have nothing to say. I am going to send and get some nice curtains for your books in the Library. Do you not think that I am good. I am going to have a new office boy tomorrow for which thing I am so glad. Robt. GIover6 is still here. Miss Croppers is now in Night School in Mr. Mann'sS place. I bought a pair of shoes for Sophira9 and Emma. You owe me $4.oo. Do you not think that you do too much for Sophira? She ought to be made to feel that she has herself to look out for. I get sick of her dependence. No Mr Logan has paid me nothing. He owes $2.50 arid 178
