The page presentation framework of the Booker T. Washington papers is designed to provide researchers worldwide with searchable access to the thousands of pages comprising the fourteen volumes, most of which are out of print. Adapted from the National Academy Press's Open Book framework, this framework allows searching down to the page level, provides sorting of search results chronologically, enables easy navigation across multiple volumes, and allows page-by-page local printing (via PDF) of every page.

OCTOBER · 1891 alla ~ am awful when my temper gets the best of me. I hear you say Amen. Davidson has been real sick but he is much better and wiD soon be alright. ~ saw Bacon this after noon and he is bright enough. Mr Washington you do not have much sympathy with me because ~ fee! as ~ do in regard to little folks—~ get annoyed at myself but the feeling is here just the same. ~ am glad that you got Mrs. Washington to see after the childrens' clothes. She has made Baker a very pretty little suit and is now doing sewing for Davidson. Miss Lischy does not like Emma at all and ~ think it is better to send another air! over there. Emma boards at least a half dozen girls from there and never says a word to Miss Lischy. She goes off without permission and gives as an excuse that she is not a student here. Another girl will do more and better work although she may not be so good a cook. I think unless you object I shall make the change Saturday Nov fist. ~ shall take Bernie away when Miss Moore3 gets here. Has she written you any more love letters? Her letters are more like love letters than are mine? You would laugh if I were to tell you that I am jealous of her. I hope that you will not work too hard. Do not stay away longer than is absolutely necessary ! Mr. Carter has not yet returned but I suppose that he will be here soon. Mr. J. H. planted a tree in your yard Saturday a mulberry tree. It would have been better if it had been an oak. Miss Peak4 came over Sunday and cried an hour or so—poor woman she is such a strange mixture. Miss Lischy has the organ over there. I guess Mr. H will be angry enough. ~ got her to attend to the music scholars and they are delighted with the idea. Mr. Penny is here cranky as ever. Mrs. Penny was over to see me Sunday. She is a pleasant refined woman. We have no serious cases of sickness now and things are moving on nicely I think. Do come as soon as you can. Take lots of love for your self and think of me often. Yours. Maggle ALS Con. ~7 BTW Papers DLC. ~ Olive J. Lischey. 2 Ida Belle Thompson. 3 Mary C. Moore. Sarah F. Peake Greene. I75
