The page presentation framework of the Booker T. Washington papers is designed to provide researchers worldwide with searchable access to the thousands of pages comprising the fourteen volumes, most of which are out of print. Adapted from the National Academy Press's Open Book framework, this framework allows searching down to the page level, provides sorting of search results chronologically, enables easy navigation across multiple volumes, and allows page-by-page local printing (via PDF) of every page.

The BOOKER T. WASHINGTON Papers To Warren Logan 47 Buckingham St. Boston July ~ ~ 1888 Dear Mr. Logan: There should be some definite understanding about the debts we owe to people outside of Tuskegee. Giving them notes may cramp us, but you can easily see that at the end of some month all tof] them might draw on us for the fuD am't we owe them. If we give a note payable at a certain time we know what to expect, and if we see before these notes fall due that we are not going to be able to pay them there are few of our creditors that will not be willing to accept part payment and a renewal of the note or in case we can pay nothing I think in most cases they would extend the time of payment. Yours ~ hope are much better now. Yours Sincerely B. T. Washington ALS Con. 86 BTW Papers DLC. From Olivia A. Davidson Washington Tuskegee, July ~ 2. ~ ~ 888] My dear Husband, It is two days since I wrote you Have been very busy. Mrs. Walkers sent me some apples which ~ have been attending to. I cannot ted you much about things as far as the debts go—John said last night that Mr. Logan had done nothing although he told him of your telegram the day before. I judged by the heading of one of your letters that you were up in the mountains last week, though you said nothing about it. Hope you wiD succeed in getting Universalist interest. I received the 80 & $40 checks. Mr. Logan not only does not look ahead but puts people off unnecessarily when they do come to him when debts are due. 466
