Elliott ALS Con. 84 BTW Papers DLC. ~ George M. Elliott, born in Virginia in 1849, was a preacher and principal of Knox Academy, a normal school in Selma, Ala. Later he moved to Beaufort, S.C., where he was pastor of the Berean Presbyterian Church and one of the founders of an industrial school. 2 probably W. H. Mixon (b. 1859), of Selma and Montgomery, an A.M.E. clergyman. From George M. Elliott Selma Ala. 5-4-85 Dear Sir: Yours of the 30th ult. is received. I inquired at both of our book stores for a copy of the Advertiser, of which you speak, and I could not get one. They do not keep it on their stands. Will you therefore be so kind as to send me a copy containing your letter. I am anxious to see it. As chairman of the committee it devolves upon you to fix the time when we shall appear before the commissioners. I can attend whenever called on. I also think we must continue active in the matter. ~ have matters to keep my pen going a long time. I cannot however do much till after the school closes as there is so much to occupy my mind tin the close of this month.
