The BOOKER T. WAS HINGTON Papers A Recommendation from Robert Curtis Ogden Philadelphia, March lath 1885 It is with much pleasure that I commend Mr. Booker T. Washington, Principal of the State Normal School at Tuskeegee Ala., to the confidence of any disposed to aid the Educational work for the colored people of the South. Mr. Washington possesses a sincere missionary spirit, his work has been prosecuted with singular energy modesty and discretion, the results attained fully justify all the aid thus far extended and give a proper basis for larger claims. The work of the Tuskeegee School is founded upon a manual labor system and aims to create character while it provides education. It has the unanimous endorsement of the Faculty and Board of Trustees at Hampton. Robert C. Ogden Hampton Trustee in Philadelphia ALS Con. ~6 BTW Papers DLC.
