The Annual Report of Tuskegee Normal School Tuskegee, Ala., November 8, 1882 MR. G. W. CAMPBELL, President Board of Commissioners: Dear Sir: The Normal School, established by the last Legislature, at this place, was opened July 4, ~ 88 I, with 30 students and the session closed with II2. The second or present session opened with 66, and the present attendance is g8, and is likely to reach To before the session closes. The total number in attendance since the school began has been ~42. STUDIES Branches taught thus far: Orthography, reading, mental and written arithmetic, descriptive and physical geography, language lessons, grammar and composition, United States and ancient history, physiology, geometrical drawing, vocal music, and gymnastics. The town public school is taught on the Normal School grounds, and is used as a mode] school for the Normal students. The course of study extends through a period of four years and includes, besides others, all the branches laid down in the State school law.
