Adapted from the National Academy Press's Open Book framework, this framework allows searching down to the page level, provides sorting of search results chronologically, enables easy navigation across multiple volumes, and allows page-by-page local printing (via PDF) of every page.

Armstrong assuming $~es.oo of the debt. I will not need, however, to accept all of Gen. A's loan as I shall be able next week to send you at least $~5 more in cash. If these letters do not give satisfaction please let me know and I will forward the cash next week. We are all under many obligations to you for your kindness. Washington Mary Anna Lor~gstreth (~8~-84) conducted a small school in Philadelphia with her sister for fifty years after 18~9. In 187a, becoming interested in Hampton Institute, she raised funds and collected materials in the Philadephia area. In ~ 898 the Mary Anna Longstreth Alumnae Association was formed to carry on charitable work in her memory. We have about seventy students now and new ones come in every week. ~ met the state supt. a few days ago in Montgomery and he seems to be much pleased with our work. i49
