The page presentation framework of the Booker T. Washington papers is designed to provide researchers worldwide with searchable access to the thousands of pages comprising the fourteen volumes, most of which are out of print. Adapted from the National Academy Press's Open Book framework, this framework allows searching down to the page level, provides sorting of search results chronologically, enables easy navigation across multiple volumes, and allows page-by-page local printing (via PDF) of every page.

The BOOKER T. WASHINGTON Papers From Jesse Edward! Mooriand Washington, D.C., October gist, 19~4 My dear Dr. Washington: ~ was very much pleased to see your splendid article on ''Association Work'' in the current number of the ''Outlook.'' The illustrations are splendid. ~ am very sorry, however, they left out Mme. Walker as she Is one of our strongest supporters. The reference to Mr. Rosenw`~d making his gift to the entire country, after the success of the Chicago campaign is, unfortunately, not historically correct. As ~ tried to make clear in my statement to Dr. Park and in subsequent correspondence to you, Mr. Rosenwald made his gift at a luncheon where Messrs. Messer, Parker, Loebt and ~ were present before we even organized the campaign; and Dr. Hall came into leadership of the movement after the campaign. He was not a member of the church when we had the campaign and said to me after he had decided to join the church that he did not give much time because he could not afford to look at the young men as a leader not having taken the stand he knew he ought to take himself. ~ think it would have made the article much stronger on that point, had it been shown that the finest result of the work was the leading of a man like Dr. Hall into the leadership of such a movement. The according to his own testimony which has been published. It is almost impossible, however, to get every item just as it should appear from a historical standpoint. It probably may make no difference to most people. There might be some people in Chicago who would take some exception. ~ want to thank you heartily for this splendid piece of service which wig have a good effect not as regards the Association movement alone, but as regards the Colored people throughout the entire country. Hoping to see you sometime in the near future and with ad good wishes, ~ am, Very sincerely yours, J. E. MoorIand P.S. ~ wonder will it be possible to get the photographs back. I am called upon for photographs for illustrations so much that it Is hard to keep a stock on hand. J. E. M. TLS Con. 5 ~ ~ BTW Papers DLC. I58
