Washington papers is designed to provide researchers worldwide with searchable access to the thousands of pages comprising the fourteen volumes, most of which are out of print. Adapted from the National Academy Press's Open Book framework, this framework allows searching down to the page level, provides sorting of search results chronologically, enables easy navigation across multiple volumes, and allows page-by-page local printing (via PDF) of every page.

DECEMBER I 9 I 3 It is proposed to circulate this paper among the ~,ooo,ooo black farmem of the United States. The paper wiD be eight pages, of about the size of ''The Country Gentleman.'' DR. BOOKER T. WASHINGTON STATES: The Tuskegee Institute has no financial interest or control over this new publication, but some of the active officers of the institution are interested in its success and believe that it will not only accomplish great good but will be a paying investment. The paper is backed by a strong orga~iizaiion and funds have been provided in advance to assure its publication. Those in active control of THE NEGRO FARMER have my entire confidence and good will. BOOKER T. WASHINGTON The success of this project is assured because of the solid and sensible lines upon which it is being laid out. AB the capital stock has been subscribed for. The subscription price Is $~.oo a year and Subscriptions and Advert~sements are invited. Clubbing rates with unportant Negro news papers will be arranged for on a satisfactory basis.
