The page presentation framework of the Booker T. Washington papers is designed to provide researchers worldwide with searchable access to the thousands of pages comprising the fourteen volumes, most of which are out of print. Adapted from the National Academy Press's Open Book framework, this framework allows searching down to the page level, provides sorting of search results chronologically, enables easy navigation across multiple volumes, and allows page-by-page local printing (via PDF) of every page.

OCTOBER · I 9 I 3 From Charles William Andersor~ New York, N.Y. Oct. 27th, ~ 9 ~ 3 Personal. My dear Doctor: Many thanks for your commendation of ''Digestine.'' It is just what I wanted. ~ will see Mr. Macy's manager to-day and will cheerfully do what I can to advance his interests.3 We will elect Mitche] and defeat that old scoundrel ZeHer, as surely as night follows day. The stars in their courses are battling with us. ~ have been going steadily night and day, and intend to keep it up until the end. Fred and Wibecan are together for once in their lives. They are both against most everybody on the Fusion ticket, and yet both claim to be supporting some parts of it. Fred is supporting Judge Foster, which is most unfortunate. There are four candidates running for Judge of General Sessions, and as only two can be elected, the two highest wiD succeed. Hence' the cr~rninal foDy of turning any votes from either Mr. Nott or Mr. Wadhams to Judge Foster, as it might elect old Zeher, who, in addition to the regular Tammany vote, wiD probably receive a great German Republican vote. You know how the Germans stick to each other. I am, however, confident of the result. Yours very truly, Charles W. Anderson TLS Con. 64 BTW Papers DLC. ~ BTW endorsed V. Everit Macy for the office of County Superintendent of the Poor for Westchester County, N.Y. (BTW to Rev. King, Oct. ~3, 19~3, Con. 9~4, BTW Papers, DLC.) Macy was elected to the office. (Anderson to E. I. Scott, Nov. 7, 19~3, Con. 470, BTW Papers, DLC.) To Henry Power Bulls [Tuskegee, Ala.] October 18, I 9 ~ 3 My dear Sir: The boy, John Swift, about whom you telegraphed sometime ago, has reached Tuskegee.2 We have been waiting to hear from you with regard to this boy but so far nothing has come to hand aside from your telegraphic communication. 325
