The page presentation framework of the Booker T. Washington papers is designed to provide researchers worldwide with searchable access to the thousands of pages comprising the fourteen volumes, most of which are out of print. Adapted from the National Academy Press's Open Book framework, this framework allows searching down to the page level, provides sorting of search results chronologically, enables easy navigation across multiple volumes, and allows page-by-page local printing (via PDF) of every page.

Thornwell Pays to Emmett Jay Scott Houston, Texas, September 9, 19 ~ ~ Dear Sir: Replying to your personal favor of September 7th, ~ beg to advise that there can be no objection to Dr. Washington engaging cirawing-room over our lines from New OrIeans to Maricopa. This is an interstate journey and the state laws would not apply. T would suggest that Dr. Washington purchase through ticket, which would include passage from New OrIeans to Mar~copa direct. Upon his return, he can purchase ticket from Maricopa or Phoenix to San Anton and con then also use drawing room to destination. ~ am sending copy of this letter to the ticket agent at New Oricans, in order that he may make drawing room reservation for Dr. Washington, whenever he Is called upon to do so.
