Go back to History Cooperative

Important Announcement

Thanks to the generosity of the American Historical Association and the Organization of American Historians, History Cooperative content has been freely accessible since January 2000. In early March, 2001, new access procedures go into effect:

Free to all:

Tables of contents of American Historical Review and Journal of American History; article keywords; collateral content (e.g., 14 volumes of The Booker T. Washington Papers). Also, our 4 new journals, The History Teacher, Law and History Review, Western Historical Quarterly, and the William and Mary Quarterly will all remain free through 2001.

Individual members:
Individual members of AHA or OAH may access and search full text of the journal(s) that they now receive in paper form. Simply register with us by using your society membership number, as shown on your journal or newsletter label. AHA members, you can go to the AHA individual membership section to locate your member number. Your login information for the History Coop is the same as it is for AHA member services. OAH members can contact the society directly at http://www.oah.org/about/contact.php.

Institutional subscribers:
Subscriber institutions will offer access to users from their campuses with no password necessary. If your institution subscribes to the paper journal but you find that you cannot access the full-text online version from your campus, please ask your librarian to fill out our online IP Registration Form to add their institutional IP numbers to our control system. Find more information for librarians here.

Non-members:
A "Research Pass," allowing full access to the site and to all the journals, as well as use of the SearchBuilder features, may be purchased as follows:
      1) $5.00 per two-hour period for a user who belongs to either AHA or OAH
      2) $10.00 per two-hour period for a user who belongs to neither society
